ABCs of SPEAKING IN TONGUES

Am open to questions, and you can send them through the chat module or leave them as a comment. But please ensure you read through as well as the scriptural references. Thank you.

A lot of people are confused about speaking in tongues, here are some ABCs on the subject.

  1. Neither speaking in tongues nor the Baptism of the Holy Ghost even water baptism is a criteria for making heaven.

  2. You must first be born again to be eligible. (Confession & Belief in Jesus Christ)

  3. You must first be filled with the Holy Spirit (Holy Spirit/Ghost Baptism)

  4. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is by faith as salvation is.

  5. Speaking in tongues comes after receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit by faith.

  6. Your speaking in tongues might coincide (simultaneously) with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit or it might come later. (MAJOR POINT)

  7. Don’t wait for God to move your lips to speak in tongues, neither should you outsource speaking in tongues to Him or the Holy Ghost for you. You must do the speaking.

  8. Utterance comes from the Holy Spirit. Speaking comes from you.

  9. Baptism of the Holy Spirit & speaking in tongues can be received by laying on of hands and without laying on of hands.

  10. You don’t need to tarry for the Holy Ghost Baptism, it has already been given (Gift). No price is required for a gift. All you require is: knowledge, desire, ask & receive with faith.

  11. Once baptised, you can’t lose it. The gifts & callings of God are without repentance.

  12. You only lose it when you reject the Holy Spirit.

  13. But if you don’t speak in tongues for a very, very long time, you MIGHT stutter in tongues when you try, especially if you stopped as soon as you received the baptism. A child that stopped speaking a language at a young age will struggle with it as an adult. But if you are proficient in the language already but stopped for a long time, the struggle is less or NON EXISTENT.

  14. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a New Testament concept. Priests, Prophets, Kings & some people used by God were baptised with the Holy Spirit fully or occasional in the Old Testament. (This might come as a surprise to many)

  15. But speaking in tongues is a New Testament experience.

  16. Speaking in tongues is different from the gift of speaking another tongues.

  17. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for empowerment to spread the Gospel.

  18. Speaking in tongues RE-ENERGISES the power. It’s like charging you battery.

  19. Speaking in tongues publicly in a church service must be done in an orderly fashion with interpretation. Except in a corporate praying in tongues session.

  20. You can be baptised in Holy Spirit without speaking in tongues; but you cannot speak in tongues without the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. (CONTROVERSIAL but true). I BELIEVE STRONGLY that you might be baptised in the Holy Spirit (remember it is by faith) without speaking in tongues. The aim of the Holy Ghost Baptism is empowerment to spread the gospel not empowerment to speak in tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:20; 14:5, 39-40)
